Aoraki Courses

Aoraki Certificate in Woodturning classes are being filled up fast with many new learners learning new methods of woodturning under the watchful eye of the Hawke’s Bay Woodturners Guild members as a webmaster and photographer I will explain what I saw in the eyes of the people learning.

On my arrival the Aoraki learners were already at their machines busy getting ready to turn their project for the night, a hollowed bowl, the room is full of enthusiasm to make something out of pine or any kind of wood that would end up as a reward for such an achievement they have done.

The face expressions from the learners is serious learning looks and also a huge smile on their faces when Hawke’s Bay Woodturners members help and show techniques and its simply turns into surprise looks that any new beginner would have is “Wow is that how its done” like a small child opening a present on Christmas day.

The learners has to follow steps of on how to to use their lathes on completion of the Aoraki Course.

.1.    Turn on and operate the lathe

.2.    Prepare wood for turning

.3.    Identify chisels

.4.    Use a chisel

.5.    Sharpen tools

.6.    Plan and work to designs

.7.    Finish turned objects
